Coal Cellar + Grill

My partner and I went for date night here. He got the steak which was alright. I got the lobster pasta which was okay until I tried to eat some of the “half lobster” on the side which was EMPTY, so I tried to crack some of the legs, once I did it was completely raw. Brought this to the waiters attention who then took it back to the kitchen and said he would replace with a cooked one. Waiter then came back and said the chef said “the lobster was just for decoration” in which I replied in the money i am paying ($89) I would expect the lobster on the side to have some meat in it (the amount of lobster I received in the actual pasta was about a tablespoon) I then received which I believed to be the manager saying we can offer you a dessert or drink. We opted to just have a discount on the bill. Extremely dissatisfied and disappointed in this place. Adding to this the front of house staff only seemed interested in focusing on the larger group tables.

Embarked on an exceptional gastronomic experience at Coal. The exquisite dishes offered a delightful culinary journey, complemented by a welcoming and homely atmosphere heightened by refined flavors. The staff demonstrated outstanding friendliness, with our waiter proving remarkably helpful in recommending dishes. Remarkably, they surpassed expectations by suggesting an alternative dish, elevating our taste experience. The service provided was unparalleled, rendering this restaurant a highly recommended option.

Celebrated our 25th anniversary here. We were treated to Champaign on arrival which was a lovely touch. Ordered the tomahawk steak and was told it could take up to 45min to cook depending on preference. Really appreciated the heads up but was happy to wait. Steak was out well before that estimate and was cooked to perfection. Really enjoyed the meal. Had fries as a side but found the truffle flavour a little overpowering for our tastes. Would highly recommend a visit

All steaks were not cooked well. 4 steaks were ordered medium and all came out cooked differently. We also got the $219 tomahawk steak and while it was tender it was also cooked poorly, well done on the edges and still raw in the middle, clearly not medium like we asked. The centre was inedible. It was definitely not worth the $1300 we spent for 5 people. I will not be going back and not recommending this place to anyone.
